Writer of the Year
The Writer of the Year Award recognizes the member of the League who has had the best year as a writer. What qualifications support this honor are up to the person making the nomination: sales, publishing credits, awards, whatever the nominator calls a success. Only credits achieved since the last Quills Conference (August 2023 – present) will apply. Service and contributions to the League or the local writing community are not mandatory elements, but may be factored into the selection committee’s evaluation.
Once selected, the Writer of the Year is expected to spend their year-long tenure serving as an ambassador for the League, making public appearances to talk about the craft of writing and promoting the League’s events. They will be invited to give a speech at the Pre-Quill Conference and will be featured on the League’s YouTube channel through short writing classes and an online book club discussing one of their books. The Writer of the Year is also responsible for curating the year’s Best Of Utah Poetry and Prose anthology.
There are so many accomplished writers in the League. Please think of those writers who you feel are deserving and make your nominations using the form below.
Nominations will be accepted until July 15.
